| Notes on support and decorations | Female face carved in high relief. She has eyes outlined with incised lines and shallowly drilled pupils, which were possibly originally inlaid, incised arched eyebrows, probably also originally inlaid, and incised ears. The face has a pig-like nose with drilled nostrils, and the indented smile lines around mouth were created with a pick or drill. The neck is represented with three rolls of fat (Venus rings). The almost shoulder length hair is roughly tooled, falling on either side of the face. The head has a flat top and reverse. This head was carved from a recycled, fine cream coloured calcite-alabaster object, probably the corner of a stela. |
