| Notes on support and decorations | Rectangular plaque with a female face. Well modelled face, particularly cheeks and dimpled chin, although eyes are scarcely carved, without pupils (probably originally painted). The piece is poorly polished, except on top surface. Strong brow ridge across face, rectangular forehead, nostrils indicated. Schematic ears high on the head, top of head and roughly finished hair falling on either side of the face forms square shape to the face. No neck indicated. There is a square boss on the back where it may have fit into the back of a niche. |
