| Notes on support and decorations | Male face on squared plaque with eyes not indicated, a flat oval shaped face, and a curtain beard. The creases at the corners of the flat triangular nose extend down past the edges of the incised mouth to a small chin. There are traces of plaster adhering to the beard, hair, and side of the face, and the top of head is left rough, which suggests that the beard and hair may have originally been added in plaster and painted black. The plaque was probably carved from a reused and very thick calcite-alabaster plaque. The back is roughly finished with angular tool strokes. |
