| Notes on support and decorations | A sherd from a very large ledge-rimmed jar with two Ancient South Arabian characters. Below the rim, and above a raised ridge, there is a zigzag pattern decoration. Red slipped and horizontally burnished surface. The fabric comprises vegetal- and lithic-temper including steatite; the core is dark grey. Given the form and the steatite-rich fabric it is highly likely that this jar originated in Ḥaḍramawt. |
